i wouldn't be too concerned if you didn't update that though.
not too much to worry about there unless you're running a really old version of it.
) about how to install, remove and update RPM's using the tools included in the Mandriva Linux distribution.
I don't really wanna pay for mandrake when there are others out there for free, are there any update programs i can use to install new programs without having to pay mandrake? also are there pretty and easy to use frontends for these?
If you're asking how well Mandrake's "upgrade" option works then, yes it is "possible", although it may not work perfectly. You could keep all the packages for your vid/sound drivers if you needed them (i.e NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run, etc.), and any user-based configurations is stored in your home dir, so you could switch out your whole distro and have the same wallpaper, icons, click behavior, etc.
I had numerous probs using the upgrade option from 9.0 to 9.1, but 9.1 to 9.2 worked much better, so maybe 9.2 to 10 might be virtually perfect. Basically anything you're storing in /home Mandrake makes creating partitions easy in the install (and can supposedly even do so non-destructively to an extent, but I've never ventured to try it).
Mandrake Roots are used in the crafting of Nidbane Fetters.
They decay and disappear from inventories and containers over time.
